Update is out for the ps3 and yes it has stopped all known jailbreaks working
No one knows yet if the jailbreak can be modified to get it to work on the newer firmware or not
Time will tell
The cat and mouse game has surely started

didd'nt take them long to knock this one out
Shows that the jailbreak weren't that complex to patch then, got a bad feeling that's the end of it already.
Glass half empty much?
This is gonna be a brute force attempt to block the patch but will not be the end of things. Every hacker out there will not be upgrading so that they can get access to the PS3 hardware. It wouldn't surprise me if there is a 3.42 custom firmware within a very short space of time.

I hope this isn't the end already, I saw last night a dreamcast emulator was being ported over to PS3 Homebrew.
Make sure that in Settings you Disable install updates automatically !

Well, after killing off one of my PS3's by updating it to v3.42!
I decided to try my other one still at v3.41, to see if the old PSN ByPass still works, and YES, I can go online using my PSGroove!
The secret, is not Video itself, but at what IP it is found!
All you got to do is go into your Network settings, and set the DNS nameservers, to custom/manual and change both of them to: 67.202.81.137
This is nothing new, it was done before and it still works.
There is also reports the the old Logan5's tool/2009 works, which is strange because it was blocked back in the Mid-April of this year, but I didn't personally test Logan5's tool/2009, as it seems alot more work to wired up my PS3 to the PC and then run a tool, when all I got to do is change the DNS settings, to 67.202.81.137 and I am off to the races playing online again!
UPDATE: For those that wish to use Logan5's tool/2009, I have now attached the PC tool!
Thanks to 0odama for passing it on to me, which he confirms works fine now, even with "wireless".
It;s not over yet
its like fanni says cat and mouse their will be a update out for the ps3 like custom firmware
I'm doing an HD upgrade today, haven't turned the PS3 on for a long time, as long as I pop the network cable out I'll be fine won't I?

There's a weird video on their home page
I saw this on another forum :
Could it be that is all they did? Revoke the code in a list? If so hopefully someone will find a way to protect the list and therefore stop them from blocking the JB. Would be interesting to see if someone can change the two byte ID and try it on the new firmware to see if it makes any difference. Bit of a long shot and I can't vouch for the above quote but it does seem reasonable as an explanation.after a week of looking for a way to decrypt some parts of the public hv dump i finally managed to rebuild everything up and started reversing for so promising strings "usb_dongle_authenticator".
i've reversed all the scheme used. the official sony usb debug dongle has unique two-byte dongle_id (which can be revoked btw by the bit-field revokation list builtin to the formware) and a dongle_key. the latter could be generated with simple sha1-hmac of the dongle_id with a secret master key.
Oh by the way that post was made in August so it's not someone jumping on the hype since the firmware came out.
