Bike helmet ?

Do you where a helmet when your out and about on your bike ? Personally I don't but she says that we really should start to so I might start looking for one - are they all roughly the same ie. Polystyrene with plastic coating ?

I do if am out with the child so that she wears hers. I have a couple, one is a Mace Solo and the other is a 661. Both pisspot style cos I hate the others.

You mean bmx/skate helmet ? That's what I'm being drawn to as I don't like the look of Any others.

Yeah they are both well made and usually cheaper on Chain Reaction. The Macr has built in speakers which are good if you are on the mountain but they can be embarassing on the road when you are listening to Kajagoogoo.

My helmet is polystyrene with a hard plastic shell, the model up is polystyrene with a special film so it is lighter but dents easily.

I've got a specialized (spelling) I got from Evans for £29 quid. Has a adjustable dial at the back and fits really well. I never used to wear one but since moving to Bristol I've started comuting to work so I wouldn't ride my bike without it. I forget it sometimes and I feel naked without it.

What type of riding do you do?

I always wear a helmet now, if you don't wear a helmet you look like a gimp and will end up looking like a retard, one bump or fall (off or on road) and your a cabbage!

Where do people ride off road? I've been to Dalby, Kielder (just down the road) and Glentress, which is probably the best mountain biking experience I have ever done. Even though Kielder is just a short drive away, I'd rather travel the 2 hours or so to Glentress to kill spooky wood.

I have a fox flux that i wear whenever i am out, having seen some serious crashes and the consequences it is not worth not wearing one...
