That is my line of work and I wish those cunts who jump the red lights at the barriers would get hit, I really fucking hate them.

I think they should put in proper red traffic lights like there are at all other forms of crossing. One of the main arguments used is that drivers aren't educated enough in them because many areas just don't have that many (admittedly not many train-tracks near where I live and I've never driven outside of Scotland but I've literally been over exactly one level crossing in my life)

The red flashing lights are just confusing and different. I don't see why standard red traffic lights can't be used, they're simple and people pretty much never run red traffic lights. Also combined with automatic gates that come down after the light is red, since people could be tempted to "just go" after waiting a red light for long enough thinking it was broken.

Apparently another common problem is people going after the train has passed when the lights are still on, not knowing there is another one. I don't think people would do that with traffic lights but they should put in some sort of warning system to say another train is coming if it's such a big problem.

Anyone going across on purpose or playing on the tracks is just playing Darwin's game imo. Shit for the drivers who have to live with it but they've done a good thing really in moving society along, you wouldn't fuck about on a motorway like that and cars can swerve and stop much more easily than a fecking train.

it amazes the stupidity of some people, i see this all the time as a train driver,
i have seen cars wrote off and people die in them, when will they learn,
they get what they deserve, just not fair on the driver,

ps, all you suicide twats, go jump off a cliff, not in front of a train, selfish twats
Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes
