Bah! Just getting fed up with this! Clutch started to let go and slip in 5th a while ago so got the parts and booked it into the garage for the 21st of this month. It's now so bad it's slipping in every gear, but the thing with this car is when 1 problem surfaces, they ALL do.
Me thinking that £500 for the clutch + flywheel, £70 for oils & £300 for fitting would be the end of it, but oh no, the car has a silly Active Yaw Contol system that uses g-sesnors, and hyraulic pumps to give a kind of "e-diff" and help you go round corners. Low & behold the pump failed. No probs I though, I'll just take the fuse out and take the lamp out the dash, and run it as a bog standard open diff like any other car until I get £2k for a proper LSD that doesn't rely on silly pumps.
Now I have ANOTHER problem! The car has a CRAZY misfire out of the blue. Previously the coil packs had been showing signs of getting weak when cold, but fine when warm, so I thought it would be coil packs & leads went and ordered new ones from Camskill for the sum of £160 along with some new plug, and it made BUGGER ALL difference! Now I had to go pick up a mate from Glasgow and help them move back up here yesterday, so was just taking it easy, because the misfire only occurred when planting the foot before, but nonono, it didn't want to play ball! Was getting a REALLY bad miss and on 2 occasions I lost one of the cylinders and the car just kept loosing speed until all of a sudden the cylinder kicked back into life and I was off, but for the whole 3 hours I had to sit at 55-60 MPH otherwise it would spit its dummy out.
After having been out this morning with my wideband & datalogging equipment it's obvious that it's a fueling issue! However pump was new 6 months ago, as was the fuel filter. So have narrowed it down to injector resistor pack or injectors themselves. My saving grace is that there are guys nearby that have these parts spare, just lying around, so gonna go to one guys tonight to test the injectors and if that don't cure it, the other guys later in the week to try the resistor pack.
No doubt something else will come up! I LOVE this car when it works like it should, but these niggles coming up here & there are really annoying me.
Hopefully after the clutch & injectors are sorted that will be that until I can get me new diff and then I can just relax. Since buying it in Oct 2008, shes' not given me a single issue, and then it all comes at once. Clutch is fair enough, because it's running about 100 BHP over stock and I dunno the previous history of the clutch, previous owner could have ridden the clutch for all I know.
Oh and almost forgot, need new rear drop links too, but that's a 30 min job.
Right, I'll stop babbling. Wasn't so much of a rant, but just annoyed really.
