3.01 phat ps3, should i upgrade or not

I have just bought a faulty ps3 with laser problems (not reading anything) and when i just hooked it up to my pc monitor and checked system info, its at 3.01 and still has the "Install other OS" on the menu.

is it worth selling as is, upgrading to 3.41 or what would you lot recommend.

i have a launch 60gb jap sat on 3.15, i just cannot bring myself to update it after what happened with jtag hack on 360 so i'm leaving it. This current hack is early days so will see how it pans out...

I have a 3.41 40gb phat for jb and a 40gb phat on 3.42 for online

if its your only one i would update so you can play around with jb

its one ive bought to fix and sell m8 but with it still having the install other os option i thought they might be worth leaving as is. if not ill upgrade to 3.41, stick a laser in and bobs ur uncle.

Where did you get the laser? I have an old 40gig ps3 here wont read disks and was thinknig of getting a new laser andupgrading it to 3.41 with a 640gig hd.
