A bit of a random update but I've just fired up the new N40L, installed Windows 7 SP1 x64 on there and then used the onboard SATA to flash a LiteOn with the LT2.0+ firmware so if you're ever thinking of trying that then it works fine
Also on that note about putting two drive bays in the top, PC World are doing the cables for 4 quid each for a Molex to 2x Molex splitter and then 4 quid each for the Molex to SATA power converters, I was in a rush so couldn't be bothered grabbing them online!
Just ordered one of the N40L Microservers for 239.99 from Dabs (£100 cashback + £5 quidco). Also got a Low Profile Radeon HD 6450 to bung in it which I'm picking up tonight from CCL. Gonna use it as a combined NAS/XBMC machine with SABNZBD/Sickbeard/Couchpotato/Headphones etc and display it on my Optoma HD200X 1080p Projector. Will probably use Windows Home Server 2011 as the main OS. Busy weekend ahead for me!
LEEDS AND PROUD
Finally decided to order one from Dabs.....not ordered any hard drives yet as I'm hoping the prices should start to drop once production in thailand picks up again. In the mean time I'll just get it up and running with the software so then it's just a case of dopping in the drives.
Has anyone setup these via wireless? I know for streaming it's better to go cabled but in the short term I want to test it out.
Well Mine is connected to my network via cat5e (upstairs computer room), Wifi (central floor bedrooms), and Homeplugs (downstairs). My Samsung Bluray player streams 720p mkv's fine over wifi, but it is very close to the router...I would imagine its about on the limit for streaming.
Hurrah my cashback turned up today. Took a few weeks but surprised as the offer wasn't open to staff.
Ordered mine. Should be with me tomorrow.
you have to get UNRAID seriously anything else is shit compared to it. It allows sabnzb and all other beautiful services.

Got mine. And my cashback email confirmation. Haven't had a play yet.
Finally got my cheque
Although it's still in the box as hard drives still seem to be on the pricey side!
Yeah it's a pain about HDDs, I put off buying some Samsungs when they would have been near on 200 quid for 8TB and now it's nearly 100 quid a disk - Amazon were knocking them out at Christmas for 65 quid but max 2 per customer. Scan dropped them to 90 quid each yesterday but it's still a way off - think I might try and hold out for the 3 or 4TB to come down in price - deleted a load of stuff though as the other one was full!
