    Default What is this spider?

At the moment our house is getting hammered with big spiders. I'm not scared of much, but a spider so much as an inch wide is enough to make my shit myself - these things are about 2" long - had to beat this one 3 times with a trainer before it died.

Found another tonight in the bathroom and it fucked off down the drain pipe and is still alive - I'll struggle to go in there for the 3AM piss now.

Any way of keeping these away?!

    It's house spider season.

95% of the spiders you see in the house have never been outdoors. It's almost unheard of for them to come in open windows or doors unless they do it by mistake.

House spiders are evolved to live in houses - they can't cope with extreme cold but they can go months without water or food.

In autumn a lot of people assume loads of these spiders are wandering into the house to escape the cold, but in reality they are house spiders that are there all year round and just go out walking at this time of year to find a mate.

I thought house spiders were always black though, so your man in the photo there doesn't look much like one. Maybe your spiders are the slightly more dangerous fulvus willydropoffus arachnae, their bite does things to people that I won't even describe.

Apparently the way to avoid house spiders is to step up the housework because hoovering and dusting everywhere keeps their eggs and things at bay. Personally I have an electrified fly-swatter, basically a tennis racket with batteries and a camera-flash style capacitor in it hooked up to the metal grid. One touch of that against a spider on a wall and it's history.

    Holy fuck that is gruesome!

Been getting some big fuckers in our house recently, fuck knows where they live normally as we are clean freaks.

Can't wait for the season to be over!

LOL as mentioned it's a plain old House Spider. Run FAST as fuck but when you hit the floor directly in front of them, they stop completely still and you can then do this.

This one ran across our rug, so I grabbed the camera which is always ready and took it's photo. It was made up, got it printed n' everything... lol

One of those fuckers landed on my head when i was having a piss in the bathroom last night, i wondered what the hell was going on, i just felt something hit me on the head and then i saw it land on the floor and run off ffs i nearly had a heart attack.

Almost as scary as the time my car broke down in the rhino enclosure at knowsley safari park.

Yeah they are rather large this year. I've captured quite a few and sent them down the sewers express style.

If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

Feck me last night the missus was a bit chilly so put a light fleece on that had been hanging on the banister, she walked past me and I looked at her back in horror there was a spider half the size of my hand (i kid you not), I calmly told her she had a tarantula on her back, so she took the coat off gently and despatched it, of course if it had been me I would have screamed like a girl and ripped the fecker off and run out of the house, talk about cold sweats....

Incidently I heard on the radio yesterday that if you want to keep those big buggers out of your room place a smaill pile of conkers..yes conkers in the corner of the room, works a treat apparently, needless to say I have a carrier bag full that I will scatter everywhere!
