My most recent one was "Breakfast Pie"

Slices of pork sausage, thin slivers of bacon, sliced hard boiled egg, small cubes of black pudding, baked beans and tomato sauce in a shortcrust pastry pie.

It was fookin luvverly.

In fact, I'm gonna make it again tomorrow. I'll post up pics afterwards!

I've a few recipes I use to maximise my use of either cooked food left over and chilled in the fridge or things that are going to go off if I don't use them.

My fave was one my mum dished up when I was a lad.. used to make spaghetti with masses of herbs, and any left was put in the fridge. Next day she would put it in a pan and add a good dollop of olive oil, an anchovie, pieces of ham/chicken slices (or other items depending on what was ready to use up). Fry it off and then take it off the heat, add some grated cheese, break an egg over it and stir.

I still do that now, Although I'll say it works better with home made pasta. Mum was Italian, what else lol.

Another one my kids love is what we call 'puffy pastry pizza' .. get some of those ready made puff pastry sheets, lay out a sheet, rollpin it a bit thinner than it is out of the pack, brush spread tomatoe puree over it but leave about an inch of the border free, then throw whatever food you got left over; cheese, cook sausages till they brown then slice into little pieces, cooked ham, cooked bacon and sliced into pieces, peppers, pineapple etc. Butter or eggwash the bare edge and put into a hot oven for about 20 mins. Lovely

I changed my mind about making the pie today, actually decided to make what Iain Lee made on celeb come dine with me last night. Something with a greek name i can't remember but its a feta, spinach and onion filo tart, looks the business, while making that I've done an apple, cinnamon and maple syrup crumble as well for dessert. It smells like what I imagine heaven to smell like!!

I make bi-weekly a Turkey and Mushroom balti curry.

Dead simple really.

Buy some turkey breasts from sainsburys and cut into slices. Fry in a bit of oil until not pink, bung in a packet of mushrooms cut to similar sizes as the turkey until the mushroom juice is mostly gone, then bang in a jar of Balti sauce (pataks i think), simmer for 5 mins.

Serve with rice or pan fried parathas.

i used to do something similar djOD, used to do it with mixed veg, chicken, ham, whatever took me fancy.

Don't often find ham curry anywhere!

Breakfast & pies are two of my favourite food types to put them together is simply genious!
Will definitely be trying that out when I've got a spare hour or so
