Question Off to Brussels in November

My friends found some cheap tickets to Brussels, €100 for 3 nights (10th Nov-13th Nov) and asked if I was up for it. I jumped at the idea as it falls on my birthday (11th Nov). The plan is to spend the first night in Brussels, drive/train up to Amsterdam for a day then spend the final night back in Brussels.

I've been to Amsterdam a couple of times so have a good idea of where to go for a good time. I've never been to Brussels though, all it's ever meant to me up to now is a place where EU government type stuff goes down.

Any of you lot been there? Anywhere worth visiting, eating, partying at? Still a couple months to go but it's nice to have an idea of what to expect.

Instead of spending a second night in Brussels, why not try the very pretty Bruges which is only an hour away. Both places have plenty to do during the day and great nightlife with plenty of clubs and bars (Brussels is probably better due to its size). There tends to be lots of backpackers around and most of the peeps you'll encounter will be from everywhere but Belgium, the Belgians themselves are a pretty dry and uninteresting lot. Regardless you'll have a great time, and as long as you're with the lads and you get change out of €5.. who really gives a fuck where you're going?

p.s. food wise be prepared to be disappointed, the Dutch and the Belgians are not known for the culinary skills. However their desserts and chocolates are something else.

I'd agree with that. Watch In Bruges and work out where best to look.
