Large Cross Spider

On my recent travels, I spotted this Cross Spider in a huge web. This thing was HUGE in comparison to the ones up here.

Body size was about that of a penny. Best viewed expanded, especially the last one

1/200th @ F11, ISO 100. Ext. Flash with power output lowered to something.. I think -1 /13

Boo... I thought you meant a large, angry spider. He doesn't seem angry at all!

I know nothing about creepy crawly photography but that last one is a cracker. It looks like he's smiling! Crackin shot...

A Cross Spider is a very common garden orb weaver spider. You'll find them everywhere such as shrubs, hedges, in between railings, hanging from trees in webs like this one was. This one is a female . No palps at the front and was facing downwards in the web which is particular of the ladies (lol, if they can be called that )
