    Help Foehn & Hirsch MV43

    Hi All;

    I have just got this sat nav from ebuyer;

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/201664

    For i have glanced at some posts on the web and seen that putting Tomtom on a windows CE device is possible.
    I have no idea how to do this, and so will be googling my heart out to see if its possible on this sat nav, and obviously how to do it.

    If anyone has any links they could forward me to how to do this on simular models i would greatly appriciate this (for because this seems to be a new model - no one has done it yet)

    Any suggestions or the like would be great!

    Cheers

    if the app/maps are on a storage card then it can be as easy as substituting the standard nav .exe with the tomtom one and putting the maps etc in the right folder structure. I've not used that particular gps though.

    Loving this from the description on Ebuyer
    "The technical prowess of the MV43 is elegantly complemented by the high quality rubberised housing on the rear"
    Yummy!

    It does have a micros as slot, but software is on the flash inside. Guess I'm in for a fun time faith this then!
    Active sync allows me to view full file structure mind.

    Also the quality feel of the rubber is pretty good too ;-)

    I have one of these coming tomorrow. From what I read the other day, its fairly similar to previous methods of installing, but you have to make a setting change somewhere to tell it where the map folder is.

    I was reading how to do it here
    http://www.simplesatnav.com/pctforum...p?topic=3911.0

    but typicaly, their server is down right now.

    I'm sure it'll mostly be the same process as the Navigo's. Search here for loads of info and some linkage for stuff.

    Attempting it now.....

    The battle plan being to use the internal memory, which I am backing up (slowly) now.

    Then Ill copy over the TT7 stuff, alter the maps path in "travel kit", then run it to get the dct file to use with the crack stuff.

    Fingers crossed.

    Right, got it working without too much difficulty....very similar to the Navigo later versions really.

    In Summary :
    1. Hook up to Windows 7 PC using mini-usb
    2. Use the file browser to look at the internal memory "residentflash".
    3. Cut the 2 folders in there and paste to somewhere you want to back them up to....or just delete them.
    4. Copy over the TT7 program folder and map folder. I used TomTom 7.910.9185 and United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_845.2666.
    5. Start the device and try and run TT7, wait for error then switch off, and back on again.
    6. Hook up to PC and open the new BIF file from ResidentFlash.
    7. Grab the device code.
    8. The Muppetproof Keygen doesnt work on this device so I used the V8 Keygen, following its instructions.
    9. Once V8 has run, copy over the meta file to the TT7 Maps folder.
    10. Set TT GPS to "Other NMEA GPS Receiver", "9600 Baud", "EDOG COM port"....at least thats the settings I used, maybe the baud rate can be tweaked, I dont know just yet.

    Job Done.

    You should also be able to use the latest UK & RoI v850.2820 map & don't forget the v850 UK postcode files .

    Quick Question;

    4. Copy over the TT7 program folder and map folder. I used TomTom 7.910.9185 and United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_845.2666.

    Do i copy the TT7 program folder to the 'resident flash' and the maps to th sd card? or is the resident flash big enough to fit it all?

    I have obtained a TTN_7.918.9193_VGA_black.cab file, but am unsure of how to get this installed.

    I have read a couple of suggestions to get a windows explorer shell up, but failed to do so. (Shell.ini and Regsitry shortcut in the root)

    Tronads you said you placed the navigator progra file in the resident flash but i assume this would be the expanded Cab file? Is tehre a mnaual way to extract the cab file giving the correct files structure/extensions (just 000, or 99 type files)

    Any suggestions would be grand!

    I see that the 850 postcode files are mentioned......don't know if those were on there or not.

    What is the program folder please, does something have to be installed to see it?

    Why not post it as a new thread, and we can maybe stick it for others to share?
