The UK's tax collection agency is putting forth a proposal that all employers send employee paychecks to the government, after which the government would deduct what it deems as the appropriate tax and pay the employees by bank transfer.

Honestly, I've had a fucking enough of this country. If this passes I am out of here, I'll go somewhere else in Europe. My pay already goes through the UK, America, back to the UK then to me. I don't want the government meddling in my funds, If something fucks on there end, I won't get my money and I will be pissed.

It's a bit strange how it works just now, getting every employer to figure out their own way of working out the tax and sending it off then doing awkward tax returns and corrections with a shitload of paperwork and bureaucracy at the end of the year to fix the millions of mistakes.

This new system could theoretically take all the moola into a big computer, one which is actually programmed correctly and not a massive fuck-up like every single government IT project has been to date, and do all the tax correctly first time round with the totally final certain payout done in the last paycheck and take all the hassle out of it saving companies millions and stopping people from having to fix their tax at considerable hassle to themselves.

Lastly, and most importantly, the part of the article quoted happens to be bollocks. If you read the proposal it can't be done by paying the government then letting them pay the employee, because the bank account details are not on their list of proposed collected data. Centralised calculation is the second half of their proposal to modernise the system, and it would operate by allowing the bank transfers to be automatically split between money to HMRC and money to the employee, a calculation currently carried out by your employer at considerable difficulty to themselves and always wrong if you have changed jobs recently.

LMFAO!!! You yourself say that the government have fucked up every single other large scale IT project, and this would be the biggest IT project of all. Each day billions of pounds going through it to be paid out, every single working person in this country's bank details on it. Its a minefield, and it would break. It only needs to go down for one day and there would be absolute chaos. And what about factoring in expenses into the tax breakdown. No, this would be an absolute disaster, and whilst I can see employers thinking it a good idea, getting rid of their payroll departments over night, the potential for catastrophe is so high, surely no-one in their right minds would support this.

my dad saved all his life-payed tax on his cash all his life-when he died the UK gov came in and stole more for tax-money that has been taxed all his working life-when he died they also taxed him for the pleasure-and even now when i get interest on his money-they tax me a bit

Yep they would no doubt try and patch the shoddy computer system they have repeatedly blamed for all the previous tax cock ups and the whole lot would collapse one friday afternoon into a smouldering heap.

When watching Lost on TV, I thought... why would they want to leave the fucking island?! If it has food, beer, and shit to do, STAY THE FUCK THERE!!! Dharma even built you a fkin house to live in!

This I think is no different to how the system currently works, I'm just curious why they want to change it. It will be more work for them, but I suppose gives them greater control and the ability to see exactly what people earn. Only concern is that they make mistakes with the current system, if they cock up peoples wages as well they won't be too popular.

Leave it the fuck alone as well. Concentrate on getting what you do right, before fucking taking on extra shit.

Incorrect, their proposal contains a list of information they would need to collect and bank details are not on it. The system would work on the existing transfers between the employer and employee.

Since it would be built into the BACS and CHAP system I think personal salaries being a day late would be the least of our worries if it broke for a day.

I don't think I fully support the idea without a radical overhaul to how things are done, and a properly financed and planned project with the best people behind it, but the idea in itself is not inherently flawed.

No, the idea is a socialist dream thought up by crackpots. It gives far to much power over to the government with regards to our money, so much so that it makes me uncomfortable to even think about it. Even if it was good in theory, that is completely irrelevant when it gets fucked up in practice, repeatedly.

Tin foil hat says eventually we won't have our wages 'taxed', we will have them 'rationed'. Receiving enough to eat, pay mortgage/rent, get to and from work etc, any 'additional expenses' (new car/sofa/phone/holiday) will have to be applied for.
You will also have all taxes deducted at source, no choice. All arguments will go to appeal, (Road Fund Licence for example, it will be deducted even though you have sold the car but DVLA have shitted their end of the bargain by taking 8 weeks to open the letter) the appeal process will take weeks and will cost you, regardless of outcome. If you are successful and get the money back that will take a few more weeks (minus expenses).
You want to check your tax and NI each month, receiving detailed pay slips from HMRC detailing all deductions will quickly become a service you will have to pay for, and they will take their time sending those out as well (2nd class, of course).

One of the downfalls of this country will be the lack of cynicism towards government (doesn't matter which), they all need to be questioned on every single action they make.
