laptop turns back on

ok im fed up of it now!

my laptop will restart itself when i turn it off but only if the power lead is still connected if i remove the power lead so its only on battery, then it wont do it. it also wont restart, by itself, when i plug the lead back in! its a sony vaio and its running win7.

i have checked the network adapter settings doesnt have 'allow this device to wake the system' and they are unchecked.

its not the end of the world but if i forget to unplug the lead before i shutdown it restarts and i have to wait for it to reboot before i can shut down again and its becoming a pain in the arse!

any ideas whats going on?

Thinking out loud voice says - Bios Settings such as wake on AC option maybe? Similar to desktops so that after a powercut they come back on when the power is restored?

Check wake on lan in the bios settings

Can't see how wake on lan would cause it if there is only a power cable connected - unless there's any possibilty of the WLAN causing it? think that one can be ruled out by the fact it's seemingly connected to the power cable being connected/disconnected
