    Hi
Ok well I got to say I am a big Iphone fan, thought I would buy an android phone and have a play around and see what the fuss was about. well it came yesterday, guy I bought it from got it as an upgrade from orange for his missus who didnt want it, hardly used.
Phone has an orange logo on back case, unlocked but had orange branded firmware, flashed it with some other firmware which had a french name, bought brand new leather case and screen protector and now bored.....what else does it do ffs....nothing like jailbreak, cydia etdc like iphone? i am pissed off with already - can somebody point me in the direction of better stuff or this will be going on ebay quicksmart...

What do you want it to do?
You don't need a Jailbreak / Cydia type thing as android is pretty open and you can install any package you like from any repository, http, ftp etc.

Or even better, take a look here - http://forum.mobilism.org/viewforum....cce0c029aecd0a

Not quite as convenient as downloading an app directly to your phone, but a lot more up to date, and many more apps too.

Out of interest what kind of battery life are you getting out of your Galaxy S's? My missus has one and from full charge in the morning it is usually dead by bed time. She listens to the FM radio for a couple of hours, perhaps makes 15-20 minutes of phone calls, then just pisses around with it. The majority of battery usage apparently goes on standby?!

    I get about 3 days.
Out of the box (with Orange anyway) the Galaxy is running all sorts of crap in the background.
Get 'Advanced Task Killer' or something similar installed and configure it up to kill all the crap that starts itself up after using an app. Mine kills all unwanted crap every hour and my battery went from the half day to 3 days.
Also check what widgets are installed and how often they are set to background sync. They can rape a battery.

    Hi
My problem remains, i can root the phone of and I can flash the firmware and the phone is unlocked but, when I got phone it had Orange branded firmware, I did *#1234#* and it gives me firmware number, went to the samsung firmware site and it has one option with that firmware number - flashed that and now telephone has loads of French branding for "SFR" ffs
    wish I never bought tbh.

No offence... But it's a weak reason for hating a phone. The branding...

I bought one from Vodafone. There is no branding.

    Hi
no offence taken, just flashed it and rooted it somany times to try and get rid of the french shit i got bored. This may well make me weak but i just cannot seem to get it clean and and reading on forums others with this firmware had similar issue - so put it all back in its box and put it away until I find a sollution. this is the reason I regret buying, not saying the galaxy is not good phone, just that for me at the moment its not what I expected. As for the branding not being reson to hate phone- I wish I had just left it orange, then agree, but I didnt phone is now branded with a bloody French phone company lolol, If I thought for one minute I could get back anything like what I paid for it then it would be gone.
On the otherhand bought a PCH from geezer on here and i total lamer with that too, but having good fun messing with that.
