    Question Are the British just a nation of worriers?

    Concerns mount over Delhi Games as athletes pull out
    <snip>
    On Tuesday, a foot bridge under construction near the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main Games venue, collapsed, injuring 27 workers, five seriously, and on Wednesday, a section of roof at the weightlifting venue fell in, but Indian officials said it was "not something to be worried about".

    i do get the feeling that everyone almost wants it all to go wrong (the press especially) which is kind of sad

    Well the aussies are pulling out too.

    Seriously though, its 2 weeks before the competition is due to kick off and the place is a shambles and not fit to live in. Would you want to go out there and live in a slum? I know I wouldn't. Its all well and good trying to spread the word of sport around the world, but if somewhere isnt fit to hold it then lets just admit it and move on. Much as I expect to say in just under 2 years about London btw.

    The press say this about every large sporting event!... its press bullshit!..

    The week before the World cup in SA they said that is was going to be a shambles and yet it was one of the most successfully planned and executed world cups in history. They said this the week before the Beijing Olympics and that went off with barely a hitch!

    Its not the British people who are worriers and pessimists it the British press who peddle negativity at every turn.

    My friend is a coach for the Cypriot gymnastics team and he's going to be flying over to India with the national team. Last month he was in Singapore for the Youth Olympics and he said he's never seen a cleaner city in his life and the hotels and venues were mind blowing.

    I have a feeling he'll be in for a shock. He'll definitely be taking loads of photos and I'll throw them on here if there's anything noteworthy. None of this, "The press will show us what they want us to see." bollocks

    Moaning cunts. Wanna try living in a neighbouring slum for a few days with human shit squelching between ya toes.

    Rocky went back to his slum hood to train and he won (touch and go for a few rounds though). Nuff said, like.
