    Default Mobile Broadband Routers?

Has anyone got a one of these? I need one which will be able to broadcast round a fairly large house. Any ideas?

Most of the drayteks do this - you can probably find an old 2900 on ebay cheap or get a new 2820. I've found not all sticks on the hcl perform well though, my current favourite is the huawei e272 - I've seen 86% reception and have a further tweak that I haven't yet had time to test (I've hacked an SMA connector direct on the device and got a big poynting aerial which should boost it further).

I will say though that I haven't been happy with the reliablity of these when we have previously installed these, but I suspect this could be due to me being forced to use 3g sticks that didn't get on with the drayteks, and that I was never allowed any time to optimise setups by trying to relocate the kit.

If my current experiments don't yield decent results, the next avenue I wish to explore is zeroshell - you get a free cd with a linux distro to install on an old pc - this lets you even have multiple 3g sticks, if you have a zeroshell at the other end with multiple public ip's, you can balance vpn over the links. The only other thing holding me back from this is that zeroshell is in beta status although many people are reporting it's solid.

As for your internal wifi, sorry I can't say.

    I've gone for this one:

Hope it's alright! Time will tell.
