Help Running a command in SQL server studio 2005

    Hello,

I have moved a database from sql 2000 to sql 2005.

I have changed the compatibility to 2005.

I also believe you need to run the command sp_updatestats as 2005 doesn't recognise so things in 2000.

how do I run a command in SQL 2005

    Thanks in advance

Just open SQL 2005 Management Studio and click the "New Query" button at the top leftish corner.
Select your database from the pick list and then just type sp_updatestats in the query window to the right and hit the Execute button.
If you're concerned at all hit the Parse button first to check the effect without committing.

Never seen an error like that one before!

You logged in as 'sa' or a dbadmin? Has the database compatibility been changed to 2005? (Right click the new database in Studio Manager and select Properties. Then click Options in the left hand side and you'll see 3 pick lists appear in the right handside... third one shows the current compatibility level.)
I'm pretty sure the DB needs to be at 90 to run the stored proc against it.

(make a backup of the database first in case of problems! I've fecked to many live dbs for the want of what is just a right-click these days! )

It might be the version of the ODBC driver you are using?
Install native 2005 drivers on the computer you are running your program on and see if that helps?

Failing that the DB might need a REINDEX command run against it.
