Default o2 Pro router reduced from £50 to £10

    Hi guys

The o2 pro router has been reduced from £50 to £10 instore only (for limited time). Got myself one, it supports wireless N and also has a USB and allows devices to be shared over the network.

Not really meant to be existing customers(but you can just go in and ask for a box), thats why its not been advertised or anything as its a temporary promo. If anyone is going to use the Manchester store please come and buy off me as I need to meet my sales targets (yes im a cheeky tw@) lol

    cheers

These are not the best routers. I believe they are thompsons and have lots of issues.

Not had many issues with the standard router tbh. Can't really comment on pro one as only had 2 days but has way better range and has increased my wireless speed about 20 percent so far

I'm pretty sure it can be used with any isp but that's what the 14 day return policy is for

There is a box you can get called takeaway broadband I think. Has the router inside, and you then choose to sign up or not.

There will be settings somewhere on the router which you can change.

You might have to change the VCI.. passwords etc to sort yours. Usually these are thompson routers you have to go to broadband gateway then press details/advanced at the top right and then I think you can configure them

I've got one of these routers as I am an O2 ADSL customer.
The router itself is a little flakey (imo) BUT it does make for an awesome Wireless N access point if you switch all the routing stuff off

it's a thomson TG587n V2 with O2 firmware the biggest problem is changing it's IP range iv'e tried all the usual ways ( editing INI file, superuser etc.. ) and nothing sticks
even trying to set it up as a wireless n access point using 192.168.0.*** ip range seems a no go
if someone knows different do tell

    are you sure it's a 587n V7 and not a 587 V7
from what i can gather the 587n V2 has only been around a few months
it does seem a bit strange if BE are using V7
