Info Is this cruel or not?

The cat died yesterday and the missus wanted to take her to the vets - what for i dont know as they aint miracle workers. but she said they would take care of her body properly.

fuck that i thought, prolly £100 to throw her in an oven, ill do it myself.

I got a nice box and put the cats body inside, found a nice patch of garden (in my next door neighbours cabbage patch)
and i buried her as far down as i could while singing "kum by ahhh"

now the missus wont talk to me, the kids thinks i killed his "suzie" and im classed as a cruel twat.

personaly i think i did well.

Tell them to think themselves lucky as you could have served it up to them on a plate with a little melon sauce.

cant see whats wrong with burying your dead cat in the garden?

just tell the kids what would have happened if the vets had taken it (burnt to a fuckin crisp) and let them know what you did was much nicer
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

You did the right thing mate.
My mums two cats both died within 6 months of one another (brother and sister from kittens and +17 years old each).
The vets did what they could to prolong the inevitable, but once they's died I buried them under some flower beds in her garden.
ultimately dead is dead and I know that the little fuckers upset you when they die, but better to give them a little respect, dignity and care by burying them somewhere yourself than black bagging them and lobbing them in a landfill site or similar.
There are people in the world who are disposed of far less thoughtfully - perhaps you could tactfuly remind your good lady of this and gain an ally against the kids, rather than an adversary.

If you buried the cat make sure it is down deep and the box is secure. The last thing you want is for the kids to find the cat has been dug up by foxes and have eaten. It's not a pretty sight and would damage your kids for life.

We got ours cremated using the pet insurance which was pretty good. We got a little urn back which my missus took to Ireland and got it buried in her parents garden. Whenever she goes home she always goes to leave a flower on his grace.

Bloody hell, you're too nice mate. I threw our dead rabbits into the wooded area at the back of the house and just let nature take its course. Sure, one of them had already been killed by a fox and left decapitated on my back lawn, and I couldn't let the kids see it. At the end of the day we are all meat, so why not put back into the food chain?

I thought you were going to say you stuck it in a box and burnt it at the bottom of the garden.

But yeah, I think you done the better thing.

I'm our family's default undertaker for pets, I'd give them time theyre going to see in time you did the best thing, its a tough one especially for kids dealing with the loss of a loved pet/ hairy little family member for the first time they just need time

also when your family is ready rather than getting a kitten or a puppy have a look at some of the re-homing centres there are literally 1000's of pets needing loving homes and you can sidestep the whole house training quagmire (sometimes literally lol)

I've always buried my dogs, it's the best thing you can do. Much better than giving it to the vet to dispose of. I've always imagined a scene where the pet cremators grab a dog or cat by the back legs and swing it on to a heap of other dead pets, such is the routine nature of their jobs. At least you can be certain that the disposal was dignified as you did it yourself. Maybe you should tell this to your wife.

Yip, defo done the right thing in the garden. You can leave a few stones or pebbles from the beach etc to mark out the burial. Also teaches the kids that life is precious and should be remembered no matter what.

We paid to have our dogs cremated and we scattered the ashes at the same place that we did my mums. If you've got the cash then why not (dad paid).

Indeed. And as I stated above if you have pet insurance they will usually cover the costs of the cremation.

I think you did right, the price the vets charge us to put down our beloved pets is terrible, as is basic medication etc, they have us by the balls and your wife was just going to line thier pockets yet again for something that should cost pennies.

I have buried all our pets over the years and cant see why that is any less proper than taking it to a vets and them treating it's disposal like a routine of their job. well, that is unless your pet is a donkey or something....

Never thought of melon. Does it work well?

I guess the presentation of the centre piece would be a piece of art as well.
