i'll give it ago later i'm get beta tomorrow i think but i've got the leaked one on another console already, i don't like the look of it

just tried a few mkv files on a usb stick none worked on the leaked dash not sure if they will work on it unless they do an optial update via live

no native mkv is available. Lots of ways to stream tho.

I can play MKV files no probs. just use my external hard drive formated with MacDrive. got loads of blueray rip films. Works a treat

So you are saying that your 360 plays .MKV files no problems at alll from your external drive? would be great if it does, as I need something quick and easy to play them.... how does it handle 1080p rips ???

As since i've got the slim, its so much cooler and quieter ...

you need to convert the MKV though you only get 2.0 sound.

yes thats right, if u use win 7 u can stream them with a divx pack installed - posted this yrs ago cant rem where. but no use for playback from usb (native playback that is)

All my NZB's are downloaded (i.e) Avatar was 12gig. with 5.1 surround sound 1080p onto my pc then I copy to my external
Plug my external into the usb on my 360
goto video and watch

i have been using windows 7 and divx pack for ages it works really well and does not use any real processing power on the windows 7 machine. Only drag you gotta use windows media center on your xbox to view the mkv. DTS comes out as 2 channel but DD comes out 5.1.

got new dashboard this morning via live and MKV files still don't play, all my features aren't there like my avatar items (awards or anything i've bought). maybe update in the near future to allow play back of MKV files.

wait till the update is in the full public domain and then a patch system be released for jtag and it's updated via flash360 or xell.

5 minute job when it's out, "DO NOT UPDATE VIA M$ UPDATES" could kill your jtag or you'll have to reflash if your cpu is protected.

It looks (and sounds) lovely though doesn't it? BIG improvement graphically.

Edit: and despite Robbo's mistake, I learned summat new today on DF. So grabbed some HD WMV files and Macdrive and got all that running off a 40GB external HDD Mark sent me, gratis.

Works well eh, yeah I got muddled with the MKV and MWV's lol
The blue ray rips do look good in 1080p, Avatar was excellent
