PS3 Lasers

Anyone know best place to get laser for 60gb machine.
Just fixed my old Ylod machine only to find out bloody lasers knackered.
Have brought from ebay before and never seem to last that long.

Buy from ebay mate, but make sure you get one of the "brown clip" lasers.
There are 2 kinds:

White clip = Cheap china made lasers, not very good and fail quickly
Brown clip = Not sure where made but Good quality lasers that last

I bought a brown clip one and it has been fine since I installed it.

Ask seller a question to confirm before bidding - DO NOT rely on the picture on the auction

May get a Ylod 1 from ebay and swap lasers over. Prices seem to be around the same.

How hard are the ylods to fix?

Once stripped down . just followed a guide , heated board up . put paste on heatsinks and away it went.
only 1 thats given me a problem was 1 with no display..
Still havent fixed it yet after 3 tries.

Only did mine as its a mint 60gb machine... with an old firmware of 2.6

did one a while back and it lasted for a while, done another and it lasted minutes. theres a company up near me that charges £60+ for reballing them (might be bs) and gives 120 days warranty.

iv got a proper pre heater and reflow station . i find ps3 when reflowed work alot longer than 360
it might be to do with the hole under the gpu lets the pre heat round its balls better.
