trying to jailbreak 4.1 (8b117)

Right, ive tried many different things, my phone has the 4.1 (8b117) - my itunes 10 says this is the latest version?
Yet my partner has 4.0.2 and its jailbroken, anyway, when jailbreaking my phone with redsn0w it will only read the 4.0 ispw, any others it just says not recognized.

The phone will jailbreak etc, but when it is done, i have no phone button and my cydia logo is blank.

Then when checking the settings it says i still have 4.1 (8b117), when turning off it doest and just reboots, so ive got to put it into restore mode and restore via itunes and get the phone back to standard and its fine then?

Could someone shed somelight?
I would like to try sn0wbreeze, but it makes my custom ispw but does not install it, and itunes wont let me restore with the file? am i missing something that uploads it to the phone?

Thats good news, my wifes is 4.2 tho and jailbroke? i have no understanding how, but i shall wait, i only want to jailbreak it so i can have a picture of my kids as the homescreen wallpaper and to see if cycorder works! pref before oct 9th as im off to monster jam!

I dont think you need to jailbreak it to get ya photos on the homescreen with 4.2 mate.

I have my son on my homescreen and it aint jailbroken

I think you can jailbreak 4.1 on Iphone 3g using Sn0wbreeze 2.0.2 but not on 3GS/iphone 4, though the baseband update it also gives you when moving to 4.1 (5.14.02) means you can't sim unlock it afterwards

Also, i found you needed to use iREB before you try the SW update as this will boot the phone and alow the snOwbreeze custom .ipsw to be uploaded ok via itunes

Tut yeah you can do 4.1 on the 3G's I have done the g/f's, I just had it in my head 4.1 on iPhone 4 sorry.

Are you sure hers isn't 4.0.2? 4.2 can't be done yet

i used snowbreeze to jailbreak my 4.1 3g, it automatically opens and runs iREB if its needed too.
