ok guys here it is
i just got a vcall from my brother who is in b&q and he has just been refused meths as the check out girl said they cant sell it on sundays , he asked to see the manager who said as of a few weeks ago they where not allowed sell it on sunday but would not exsplain why as he had not been told just that its something to do with sunday opening laws.
is it because you could get pissed on it and therefore like tescos only sell it certain times lol, but seriously guys any help??????????

ok heres why, methanol consists of Ethanol and Methane mixed together

ethanol is poure 100% alcohol (deadly if swallowed)
and methane is a gas which kills aswell so who would drink it???

your ment to get the meths and a home made loaf of bread( the brown crusty outside type),rip off one end and make a hole at the other end of the loaf. pour the the meths into one end of the bread and let it filter through and collect out of the smaller hole of the bread, the meth is now not so damaging to drink and u can eat the bread after a day or so and still get mashed...

Methanol is not ethanol and methane mixed together.

Meths is short for "Methylated Spirits" It's a mixture of about 95% ethanol (The GOOD stuff that gets you pissed) and 5% Methanol (VERY BAD...A small amount will a: make you go blind and b: cause pemament brain damage, before c: killing you)

I worked in a B&Q for a few weeks and they do have rules about selling certain items, BUT only to minors! .... you know glue, dangerous/tools, chemical substances etc, which I guess could include meths!

You never mentioned how old/young your brother is, as most "so called" hazardous materials can only be sold to over 18's. I'm guessing he's young, or looks younger than he is?

As to them saying they can't sell meths on a Sunday LOL what a load of *******s, that's like saying you can't buy petrol on Wednesdays!

Not quite a lot of crap. Pharmacies also have to follow this rule. Sales of methylated spirits are currently prohibited on Sunday under Section 26 of the Revenue Act 1889.
