KFC goes Halal

I only found this out the other day , the link below shows all Halal restaurants.

Nando's also run a similar scheme (but that was done from day 1). There goes another few places where I cannot eat .

In Canada, all KFC restaurants offer a selection of dark or white meat, why cant they offer halal/non-halal over here?

Just to note, I have no issue with this having anything to do with muslims etc..i just don't approve of the way the animal is slaughtered.

Yup usually it is a p.a but ive seen a few places (like in india) where there is an actual priest doing his thing.

I know KFC isn't British but this country is loosing its identity every fucking day.

Sanj, I don't see what your issue is? Are you telling me that you never eat indian restaurant food, because most of those are Bengali (Muslim) run and therefore only serve halal meat. In addition there is plenty of evidence for and against halal/kosher slaughter. Those like me with a scientific bent can see the argument that a cut to the neck with a surgically sharp knife can render the animal unconscious in seconds as the arteries to the brain are severed. Compared to electric stunning where the animal can literally fry to death if the procedure is botched... Which often happens in large, industrial slaughter houses where everything is mechanized.

So If you really want to show your love for animals, go veggie.

I see your point but you can't assume that just because its Halal that the cut to the throat is a precision cut every time just like the stunning method can't be.

IMO i'd rather see the animals stunned first and then killed rather than being bled to death. Take a cow for example, you'd need a bloody big cut to its throat to suddenly stop the blood going to its brain!.

As for will I eat at my local KFC if it became Halal meat? Sure as like GTI said, if you really care about how the animals suffer then become a vegi as no matter how they are killed you can't guarantee that then animal hasn't suffered.

the only real authorized halal is "HMC" which are 100% non stunned !!
for an animal to be slaughtered it cannot be injured in anyway before it is killed " CLICHÉ "
like someone said above you can always go veggie or find non-halal foods everywhere

A stunned or halal death still doesn't make up for life as an intensively farmed animal.

People forget chickens are a different kind of kill in that unless you hold on tight the fucker flaps and runs all over the place bleeding everywhere for quite some time - even though it's technically dead.

now something like a cow, you cam trust it to be more considerate and keel over more politely without such a mess.

My father in law is a catering butcher and tells me a lot of chicken that is available now is halal as sluaghter houses are muslim owned.

For us to eat any animal it has to be killed. If you don't feel right about how it was killed eat it alive. I am sure that a slaughter house is more humane than 4 people sat round a table on a Sunday afternoon cutting up a live chicken with an electric carving knife.

Word of advice: do not try the above unless you wish to be very ill.
