    Default Imac or PC?

Just after some input. I have never had a Mac but was thinking of getting my lad 1 for xmas. He is 7 do you think they will be easier for him than a PC? Also what else will I need to get with it? I'm looking at the basic 27 inch cheers

For ease of use and maintenance the iMac wins hands down.

Why not go down to your nearest Apple store and have a long play with one? You won't want to waste £000's of pounds to find out you don't like it.

Anything else you need to get will entirely depend on what you want to do with it. They are a pretty good spec out of the box with built-in bluetooth, webcam, microphone etc... The only option I would consider straight away would be an external hard drive to use as a backup device. It comes with Time Machine which automatically back-ups your entire hard drive incrementally so you can simply roll back to a previous day and recover any lost/deleted documents.

A PC user playing with an iMac will likely be a put off, your lad will learn really quickly (more quickly than an adult) whichever you go for. That said, for me the iMac wins hands down.

The only thing your 7 year old will have to bear in mind is the lack of games compared to windows and the not so great alternatives of MSN messenger.

lol don't be so silly! I've had several friends, family members and customers do the switch after literally spending minutes playing on my macbook/imac and they have never looked back.

Yes flash is fine, it's just iPhone and iPad with that restriction.
