    Default Red Dead Redemption Gamesave

I am having a problem transferring my gamesave from a mates console to mine. I have only ever played one game on my PS3 and thats COD:MW2 but I got playing RDR at my mates and took a liking to it. I got quite far and have bought the game for myself, I thought it would be easy to move the gamesave across but I am having issues.

I was using my own user account (not PSN) on his PS3 and it is the same name as my user account on my PS3. I have successfully copied the gamesave files onto USB and onto my PS3 but when loading RDR it has an error which says the gamesave was made by another user.

"the save file "*insert name here*" appears to have been created by a different user and cannot be loaded. if you continue the save will be overwritten at the next autosave point."

On neither console was I logged into PSN as we prefer not to update the FW and have third party controllers disabled, and as we do not wish to update the fw we cannot logon to PSN to sync my game saves.

Does anyone know of a fix? I have tried simply copying the gamesaves to USB and data transfer utility via ethernet where my console is formatted then all my mates HDD is copied over. I have tried deleting the game data and starting a new campaign, completing the first couple of missions then overwriting the game save.

    Cheers

It could be a protected game save mate. Quite a few games have their save files set-up so they cannot be transferred across accounts (i think it has something to do with purchases).

Street fighter game saves have the exact same issue

I thought as much, there was no definitive answer on google to whether RDR is protected. Some people have managed to transfer saves but all in varying situations. No method worked for me unfortunately so looks like I am stuffed!

    Shit situation mate.

Nothing makes me leave a game faster than loosing my progress.

I once lost 90 odd percent GTA Vice City save by a powercut whilst it was saving, i've not been the same gamer since.

Nasty mate, I got to Mexico and must have nearly completed that section so was almost two thirds of the way through. Don't have much free time either, I hardly ever game. Ah well will start again when I get a chance.
