iOS 4.2 gmail push fix

Hi,

It's a common fault that for some reason, gmail no longer pushes since iOS 4.2 and no one really knows why, anyway, I thought I'd pass on that you can get gmail to push once more by not adding it as a gmail account, but adding it as an Exchange account. Set the server as m.google.com and you're all set. Works very fast too, if anything much faster than before.

I've had no problems with Gmail on my iPhone 4 on 4.2? It was added as a Gmail account when I got the phone, is this if you are adding an account since the update?

Maybe if you upgraded not restored it works ok but I restored and added the account manually. If you google you will see loads have the same issue, but many suggest using a 3rd party push app to fix it when one isn't needed. Gmail push was working fine for me on 4.1

Virgin media's email service (including blueyonder and ntlworld domains) can also be added as an Exchange account setting the server as "m.google.com" as well.

ive restored recently and mine pushes fine, i have seen other posts with the problem however, wasnt it something to do with googlemail.com becoming gmail.com permanently ive always used gmail since i got my account anway.
