Default what program to format hfs+

I have a external HD 1.5TB and want to partition and format it 3 ways.

    so I have partition :-

    1) WBFS (nintendo)
    2)fat 32
    3) HFS+

    All 500 gbs

I can do the first two no problem but the third is proving to be tricky.
Most of the mac programs macdrive, transmac will only allow me to format the whole disc not a partition.
tried looking on the hiren boot cd too (partition magic etc)and still came up blank any ideas folks ?

also tried using diskpart in command prompt but this fails too.
    cheers

I'm guessing you'll be hooking it up to a Mac if you're formatting if as HFS+ - if so have you just tried plugging it into a Mac and formatting that partition to HFS+ using the Disk Utility?

Not got a mac, using hfs+ allows 360 to play files over 4gb ie most hd films.

    Found this

MediafourMacDrive 8- Windows XP SP 2 or newer (32-bit)
    - Vista SP1 or newer (32-bit and 64-bit)
    - Windows 7 RC or newer (32-bit and 64-bit)Enables Windows to read, write, and format Mac-formatted storage media, including external hard drives, and iPods. MacDrive enables Windows to create Mac-formatted CDs, DVDs, and dual layer DVDs. Windows users can access Mac disks of all types from the desktop, Explorer and from any software. No special user interface is used; Mac drives appear where standard Windows drives appear. Automatically converts file names, eliminating characters not allowed.
MacDrive 8 also includes a utility for Windows called MacDrive Disk Manager, which adds the ability to analyze and repair Mac-formatted (HFS+) disks, MacDrive Disk Manager can also partition and format hard disks in HFS+. Another included utility, MacDrive CD/DVD Creator, can burn Mac CDs and DVDs.
Windows running in Boot Camp can see the Mac partition when MacDrive is installed. A new feature for Boot Camp is support for Windows 7 Libraries.
MacDrive 8 will automatically add content from the Mac partition to the Windows 7 libraries.
MacDrive 8 now enables Windows to browse the backed up files on Time Machine backup sets, and copy those files to Windows. MacDrive 8 supports drives bigger than 2 terabytes in size.

Right fella, not sure if this would work but if you fire up Disk Management and delete the partition that you want to use for HFS+ (make a note of the disk id) then go into a command prompt and do the following:

    diskpart
list disk (this will give you the disk ids so make sure it matches the one you got earlier)
select disk x (this should move focus to your external disk)
create partition primary id=af (this should create an HFS+ partition and will use all the freespace left on the disk)

Then just quit that, then maybe fire up MacDrive and see if it will let you format just the partition to HFS+ if it doesn't already see it as one?

tried that mickey but it will only let me format the drive as a whole and not a parttion on it.
tried that rev same just comes up as unknown format but macdrive won't format it because its a partiton.

The mac option is looking favorite at the minute.
wonder if there is any way using dorris's ipod thing...... i have a play later.

    thanks gents

Just an update on this in case anybody else tries it, Got the 3 partitions used a virtual machine (mac osx leopard)
The 360 won't see the partition any way so it was a waste of time. It only sees the fat32 one.
Also used a package called Acronis disc director, this lets you mess with partitions on the fly without loosing data.
