Question Where is the best place to buy laptops

Well, old Father Humbug is planning his route down our chimney in a couple of months.
The (16 year old) lad wants a Lappy and the daughter wants a netbook. Any suggestions on good sites to buy these monopoly alternatives?? Best site that I've seen is saveonlaptops, but any suggestions on alternatives are gratefully accepted.

    Thanks

I've found the prices on the Dell Outlet to be fairly reasonable. You can pick up a respectable spec laptop with a warranty for a little less than the price on their website.

I know the vostro 1320 looks cheap and tacky inside as I've got one but my boss got a newer vostro for his son that looked alright.

Along with a decent laptop/netbook, I would recommend one of those cushion type things with a flat surface mate. I've had to look at loads of them over the past couple of years that family have given to the kids because of crashing/locking up problems. Usually turns out they've been overheating as the kids just use them on the bed/sofa/legs etc.

A few have also fucked USB ports with dongles in them as well for the same reason.

I'd avoid laptops for kids with a power connector on the rear, too easy to damage the connector, on the side is much better.

Just not the sony fw series where the power connector and power switch isn't in the main body of the laptop but a little thing tacked on that can easily be broken. Shame as I like these otherwise.

No good experiences here buying from Bowlers an I and mates have had a few, you always think this one will be OK. Only buy new now unless its a refurb that comes with a full 12 month warranty from the manufacturer like dell outlet etc.

Just find something you want then find the best price for it. Laptops direct are pretty completive on price some times

They do have some right bargains - got a mate to buy his Toshiba off there and it was great for £250 I think he paid!

It came with a piece of paper saying it had been refurbed but it looked brand new apart from the charger!

I got my last PC one from Laptops Direct in Huddersfield, definitely worth a look too
