    Creating a forum, recommended textbook

I'm cerating a forum called "Discussion forum for DIY enthusiasts" using PHP4 and MySQL. Can anybody recommend a textbook? It's for my final year degree project.

    Thanks

The above is a good book, also you may want to get a decent sql book if your sql isn't that good as optimizing queries and indexing your table efficienly will be the difference between a slow resource hogging forum than a smooth fast one like vbulltin board.

You may also find it helpful to review the code and database structure of phpbb.

I was hoping someone could point me to a book which has sample code for creating a basic forum. Somebody recommended me such a book on the forum but when I searched for the post it seems that it has been lost after the recent upgrade.

    thanks

I'm currently writing a forum in ASP/VBScript with an Access back end, it's not meant for high volume traffic but the principles are there.
If you don't manage to get your book I don't mind sharing source code if you need help.

Hey thanks for the offer, but I have no choice BUT to use PHP and MySQL now, cos I've started the project and handed in proposals etc. Thanks for the offer tho, much appreciated.
