    Default Which laptop?

Anyone know of any good deals going at the moment?

Looking for an i5 or i7 laptop with 4GB RAM and a 500GB HDD. I'd like a good resolution screen. Had a look at the Dell Outlet and seen some good deals but then a piss poor screen resolution that puts me off.

Looking to spend £500 - £600. I could always upgrade the Memory/HDD if I had to.

Ideally not an Acer laptop... or Advent... or eMachines - you get the drift.

I think you might find the following tip quite useful...

    1) Ok, you have narrowed the options down to just three laptops...

    Laptop A
    Laptop B
    Laptop C

So, which Laptop should I choose?

    2) There are hundreds of laptops to choose from.

I am not sure what laptop is best for me?

    Hope this helps!

Quite a lot, it'll be a desktop replacement. Got about 200GB of files to stick on it straight off and then plan to use it for a number of things, Photoshop, Premier, PS3 Media Server, iTunes, FSX (Rare), The usual. Main priority is finding a laptop with a good screen resolution.

I know there are a number of laptops, but struggling to find one with a reasonable model with good screen resolution - perhaps that should have been my question.

Can anyone recommend a laptop with a good screen resolution and perhaps CPU within my range? I can always upgrade the Memory/HDD.

No, it's a couple of guys in Glasgow that run an eBay shop - I managed to convince them to allow me to collect and pay cash to shave a little off the price.

They have more if anyone else was interested, I think it's a great spec for a laptop at a bargain price.

It was £580. Struggled to find a 1080p laptop in that range never mind with an i5 and 640GB HDD.

Picked the laptop up today, ticks all my boxes and looks the part too.

Glad I went for the higher resolution screen, everything looks crystal clear.

    That's a bloody good price.
I'm looking at the Dell XPS 17" i7 at about £850 but the Dell site won't let me spec it with a 1920*1080 screen

It's something I'd highly recommend... you could consider buying the 15" version, I think having a high resolution on a smaller screen looks great - iPhone 4 also demonstrates this.

Got issues with it though, and I'm not alone. When I view any Youtube videos the screen flickers and gives a message saying the AMD Display Driver stopped working and recovered - seems to be a common issue with the driver for this card at the moment.

Going to install FSX tonight, will see if that works... I'm able to run 1080p MKV's perfectly.

Oh deffo, my current (5 year old) Dell XPS 17" has a 1080p screen and I'm sure as hell not downgrading!

What makes you think that? It's ideal IMO. Assuming you mean 1080.

Alright, thought that 1920x1080 was a decent res on my 23" SyncMaster.

My old Dell XPS M1730 had a 1920x1200 resolution on a 17" LCD and I liked that ... but I think that the 1080p res on this 15" display looks spot on.
