Help bit of advice on recyling

seems to be a bit of a gray area, so have turned to you guys for the help!

The recyling boxes we all have, we put cans etc in, now is there a law to stop you on the day of collection to go around and collect the cans your self - to scrap

approx 80,000 cans will make a ton which equals £750 at todays rate - divide that by 2 and its a good little earner, obviously would take more than a day to collect that many cans, crush them up and bag them up in ton bags. but worth it in the long run,

weve made £150 in the last 2 days ( divide 2 - £75) out on the rag and bone, but theres so much competiton out (pikeys) and we end up going where there vans wont go and get dirty unlike them cnuts who turn up in the scrap yards in there best jeans/jumper and a pair of shoes when we folk have to wear hivis, boots, hardhats etc.

not bad money, but would like to step up the game, but not sure on the laws, im thinking because the councils names are on the boxes then what goes in the box is there property, but we are only taking the ali cans...

Theft by finding? as i said its quite a gray area.

our council make a fortune on the tins & cans side.
last year i think they made 400k just on that.paper & glass prices have gone up too.

so most councils will kickup a fuss.
aloy is the way to go but check with council 1st.
i keep my own cans & weigh them in about twice a year.
you could start going round the local caffs & sarnie shops putting in collection boxes for cans only.
    especialy around the schools shops.
kids go through loads.just ask they can only say no.
    put these in.http://www.thepackagingstore.co.uk/p..._medium=google
    http://www.stationerystore.co.uk/819...-pack-3-bn0901
print some posters to stick to them.
the company i work for do this with the schools for
    ink cartridges.

used to know lads who would go to the council tips for tv's videos you name it then carboot it every sunday.
they used to make a mint no outlay except petrol money and carboot fee.

if it can be resold/reused then ive no problem with bin dippers.
Only in Britain….do we use the word “politics” to describe the process of Government. “Poli” in Latin meaning “many” and “tics” meaning “bloodsucking
    creatures”

I'd rather my council gets the money to spend on our services. Even if there isn't a law against it, I still think its tantamount to theft.

Infact, this kind of thing really fucks me off.

Pretty sure the laws could have changed on that these days though. Could be down to individual councils but I know all the tips in this area don't allow that any more. Seen many a row with the attendants and people trying to take electrical goods and bikes etc. It's all put in cages here.

If the council make money from it then good. Lower tax for us regular folk hopefully.

I'd call you a cunt if I saw you sniffing in and around my front garden. That's not an euphemism.

You could take soap from hospital toilets and resell it back to them. Or perhaps seek compensation from driving into the back of other road users. The world's your oyster.

Does your council actually make anything though? Here it's run by a private contractor, I think I remember reading somewhere they also get paid by the council to run the service!

A council dump/tip in my area doesn't allow you to remove anything from their yard at all - I think its due to health and safety - if you cut your throat with a piece of metal you took off them you could claim.

But down the road which is another borough council with different rules you can take stuff from their dump.
There is a man there who stays there all day hoking through bins
