    Default Web Design Courses?

Can anyone recommend some good home learning courses that will land me with a good qualification at the end?

lol I just realised the typo!

Keva, I don't know if there are any qualifications out there, or at least i've never heard of them. Most if not all websites use basic HTML combined with a CSS style sheet.

Best place to start your research is - http://www.w3schools.com/

    Whoops.. I meant web... honest

I already know html/css. I was just wondering if there was any qualifications out there that I can obtain to have my skills recognised.

I think that's called a portfolio mate most people want to the the proof in the pudding rather than people who "claim" they have a qualification.

work on some project sites, even if they aren't customers and get them up mate!

    Thanks to Red Phoenix

To get a qualification with any credibility your looking at University courses in Computer Science (they have numerous web design/dev modules) or there are courses held at Uni's that offer BSc degrees in Web Technologies. These are 3 year full time courses or 5 years if you do it part time.

You can do online examinations through W3schools but, as they are based online they are easy to cheat and therefore lose credibility.

The best bet is to swot up and read books on server side technologies (granted your HTML and CSS is good enough) such as PHP. Practice your new languages until your good at them and put them to action in personal projects. Get a portfolio of your work together like Red Phoenix said and start networking with other people on forums and in real life.

    Thanks for the advice

Since posting last, ive started doing somework for a charity, helping out with designing their website which is going to be on the Wordpress engine. It might be only volunteer work but ive learned a lot already about basic php and even jquery. Also it can only add to my portfolio of work
