How big should the gold card image be on the HTC Desire

I'm creating a gold card image (I think lol) but it seem a tad small to me, I'm on section 7 -

It's 1k in size

How big should the gold card image be on this stage - HTC Desire

I don't want to carry on any further if I'm doing wrong

are you trying to root the desire?

If so use unrevoked.com and download the software there. It's pretty much a one click root tool.

nah forget the gold card thing, i read about that, put it off for a few days then unrevoked appeared, its so much easier.

Unrevoked installed clockmod recovery so you can always reboot into recovery mode.

it doesn't do a complete backup but the first thing it does is install a recovery mode.

you shouldn't lose any data in the rooting process, it's only when you then use a custom rom that you will.

Once rooted install titanium backup and backup the app, then do a restore when you load a custom rom.

HTC Sync not installed

I've installed it, went through the unrevoked program, phone resetted.

But wouldn't go any further, any ideas?

Don't know about custom roms as I only had one for 20 minutes to root it.
