How to bypass iphone password?

My mate got a 3GS, he can't get into the phone because he dont know the passcode (don't ask me where he got it from) he's tried restore but no luck as it still requires the pass. Would rebooting in safemode then restore through ITunes work?

Yeah putting it into recovery mode and restoring fw would remove the pass

It didn't work because he has not backed it up. What if I download a custom firmware?

dont restore set a new iphone up.

Also I always thought a restore clears your pass anyway

getting the pass wrong 10 times would wipe the phone i think?

I also need to know the answer to this question. My mate found an iPhone last week while snowboarding. It's obv been barred because it says "No Service" up top, but he's happy to use it as an iPod touch and not fussed about the phone.

So any info on this would be ideal. Pref I'de like to gain access opposed to wiping it incase there's some naked pics of his bird, lol. If folk help me get into it I will post any decent pics I find!

when the phone is connected to itunes it doesnt show no information about the phone, all displayed as N/A

also tired setting it up as a new phone, it tells you to unlock phone then connect.

Dfu mode and restore wil wipe the phone and reinstall ios

Dont know of a way to remove the pass and retian the info.
There was one way back in the days of the original Iphone and it has been since remvoed.

Couldnt try that cause my mate disabled it by entering the pin too many times. Now you have to connect it to the iTunes the phone was register on.
