Ive had a clean up and deleted a load of older files/versions that are out of date and no longer relevant....only because I spotted they were still being downloaded.

    UPDATE :
Release 12 now up. Some speed enhancements and a fix to the contacts syncing.

    EDIT :
Release 12 had a caller display issue...this has now been fixed, so if you grabbed it before now, you should re-grab it.

Hi tronads thanks for all your valuable info, grabbed rom 11 when it was upped, just got a san farncisco yesterday and used rom 11. notice reading threads you have been upping as versions change and didnt read before doing as notice 12 is now been posted. Would flashing new rom every time lose all your settings Which i 'm thinking it would or is there a way of doing it without losing any changes>

You can flash r12 without ereasing the cache etc if you have r11.
To get the contact sync working, go into accounts and settings and delete your facebook account, then add it back in. After a short while your contacts will have the pics from your related facebook friends profiles....which is quite neat.

Really appreciate the ROM on your FTP thanks tronads McAfee WaveSecure is baked in to the free MoDaCo R12 ROM which can be a pain in the arse if you don't sign up to the service as it persists on sitting in the notifications bar, so the ROM you provide is a blessing

I had problems sending (phone said sending but it doesn't) and receiving (nothing turned up) MMS on my O2 simplicity SIM, so spent a little while working out how to fix it. This R12 ROM has lots of access points defined (which might be causing a conflict?) but they cannot be edited or removed.

Anyway, here's the solution for anyone who may be suffering the same problem:

    • Download APN Backup & Restore from the Android Market
    • Run APN Backup & Restore and Delete APNs
    • Push the Home button, then Menu button
    • Press Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks -> GSM/UMTS Options -> Access Point Names
    • Push the Menu button
    • Press Add APN and use the following settings (if a field is not specified below then just leave it blank
      • Name: O2 Mobile Web
      • APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
      • Username: web
      • Password: web
      • MCC: 234
      • MNC: 10
      • APN type: default
    • Save it and add another one
    • Save it and reboot phone

I have installed the Blue Gingerbread Circle theme (nice colours and battery icon) and added the Swype keyboard and got all my contacts linked up with Facebook profiles where available. I had to 'force join' some contacts to Facebook profiles, but it wasn't too much work.

The handset is running a treat! Even Angry Birds plays smoothly on it...

I agree, Wavesecure is a right pain....thats why I opted for the paid membership to get the kitchen version, which is much better without that thing in the task bar nagging.

Im interested in your "force join" statetement though, how have you done that, as I have a few not matching. A couple I changed the name of in my contacts to make them match facebook, but a couple of my mates use silly names id like to match them without having to rename them in my address book.

Bit of a pain to do but it's worth it:

    • Open up contacts
    • Menu -> Display options
    • Untick 'Only contacts with phones'
    • Scroll down to find the e-mail address linked to your Facebook account, press it, tick 'All Contacts', and press Done. Your contacts list will be populated with Facebook contacts
    • Find and select a contact that you want to join (it doesn't matter whether you choose the Facebook or phone contact)
    • Menu -> Edit Contact -> Menu -> Join
    • The phone will give you a best guess match (not much use if someone has called themselves Mike Oxlong, and their real name is John Smith), but you can just scroll through your contacts to find the correct match. Just press on the contact
    • Rinse and repeat for all contacts you can be arsed with.
    • Lob a tick on Menu -> Display options -> Only contacts with phones option when finished, and you're done.

just done this to a mates phone, how long does it usually take to do the initial boot? I know it takes a fair while on my Desire, but this has been on a MoDaCo screen for about half an hour now, it occasionally blinks which makes me think it may be doing something

That sounds like a failed install.

When I have had that, I have ended up reinstalling the previous rom I was using, or reinstalling the stock rom and starting again.

    Good stuff.

I think that wifi is a general sore point with this phone. Resetting both the phone and your router is usually a good bet.

Wifi was an issue with the older roms, where it would disconnect frequently, and always when the screen went off...but is not anymore on (as far as I know) ALL the current roms.

most peeps at modaco think jj9 is the best, what makes FBL better ?

Musy admit I never used the modaco rom, just the japanese jellyfish (excellent) and the CM7 RC2 2.3 rom - which was very nice but not complete
