I did use the jellyfish, but I must admit that I have bounced around so many roms I can't remember what I didn't like about it - I think it was that the phone didn't switch off properly or something.

The modaco rom is very good - I just find that the fbl one feels most polished out of the lot, and I get the least wifi issues with it.

I did try CM7, and as you say maltloaf, it is very nice.....but completely useless as it didn't work properly, lol.

I've just tried the FLB rom and couldn't really see much difference, leaving it as it is now.

Bit of a pain to do but it's worth it:

• Open up contacts
• Menu -> Display options
• Untick 'Only contacts with phones'
• Scroll down to find the e-mail address linked to your Facebook account, press it, tick 'All Contacts', and press Done. Your contacts list will be populated with Facebook contacts
• Find and select a contact that you want to join (it doesn't matter whether you choose the Facebook or phone contact)
• Menu -> Edit Contact -> Menu -> Join
• The phone will give you a best guess match (not much use if someone has called themselves Mike Oxlong, and their real name is John Smith), but you can just scroll through your contacts to find the correct match. Just press on the contact
• Rinse and repeat for all contacts you can be arsed with.
• Lob a tick on Menu -> Display options -> Only contacts with phones option when finished, and you're done.

Thanks for taking the time to give me instructions....I had a go at this but got as far as clicking Join, at which point a yellow box appears saying "Join contacts - select the contact you want to join with...." but below it is completely blank, no contacts shown.
However, I have found that temporarily changing my contact names to their "stupid" false facebook names, then syncing, inserts the photos, then when I change the names back to what they should be , the photo is staying.....or it seems to be anyway.

Gotta update my brother in laws San Fran today as it freezes up on an old modaco rom, what is the most stable froyo rom at the mo and where can I get it. Thanks

Swedish Spring RLS5 seems to be the best for me at the moment haven't had any lockups or wifi issues yet..

does updating to that swedish rom mean ill loose all my contacts and texts and apps? not fussed about the apps but texts and contacts could be annoying if i back up how hard is it to transfer back over?

use titanium backup (free from the market)

Any update on these rom versions, or which is the most stable?? About to buy a SF and its being handed to my 14yr old, I dont want to be constantly messing with it... Or should I leave well alone and just unlock it??

Latest modaco rom, jellyfish or FLB r11b mate. Installed via clockwork recovery. Sweet as.

def unbrand it, its like a new phone.

Have a look on xda developers, I dont think theres a great deal of choice on the roms really, cyanogenmod is great though, just grab the latest. You may need to remove some of the apps though, not sure off hand but some could cause problems if it pisses about with the settings (and if hes anything like me when I was 14, she will)
