Default Do you folks know much about fridge freezers?!

Bit of a random one here, but I'm after some info on fridge freezers and figured you lot here know lots about allsorts so it's as good a place to ask as any!

I'm looking at one of these - a Samsung jobbie:

    http://www.bestbuy.co.uk/product/100...e-freezer.aspx

It gets good reviews everywhere but Which go on about the reliability of Samsung kit not being the greatest - it comes with a two year warranty but I'm wondering if this is one of those rare occasions where an extended warranty is worth it?

Thanks in advance for any pointers - I've lived with just a Budweiser beer fridge for the last five years but need to finally grow up now

No. Fridges should be expected to last the 6 full years you have to claim under the sales of goods act, if they don't then it can be claimed that the product was not of satisfactory quality and should be covered by law regardless of the length of warranty offered. Make sure you make at least partial payment by credit card which should cover you (for the full cost) if something does go wrong, that way you can claim via the credit card company and let them argue with the retailer about it saving you a lot of hassle.

Thanks guys, unfortunately I got rid of all the credit cards years ago and just have the HSBC Visa debit card - might be worth me getting hold of one for this very purpose then!

Wasn't sure if the sales of good act would cover these but like you say 6 years should be plenty if covered by that

Always buy large purchases on a credit card and pay it off so you get the backup of the consumer credit act.

The Visa Debit card will do as a last resort as you can technically charge back using Visa but its not the same as the Consumer Credit Act.
