Air pistol

In a nutshell, I "found" a very powerful .22 air pistol and pellets I forgotten I even had in a box in the loft. It's been there since I moved in here 20+ years ago. With kids about the place it might not have been me that found it and that makes me sick Can any DF members tell me the best way to get shut of it? I haven't a clue about what is and what isn't legal but it makes no difference anyway as I just want it gone, preferably destroyed. I thought about dismantling it but would probably end up losing an eye in the process. Can I give it the coppers without them sending out a SWAT team? You read instances of people with water pistols getting a hard stop. I don't have time for pissing about or answering questions about it, just want it gone.
Any ideas what's the best thing to do guys?

Give the local station a call and they'll advise you the best way to get rid of it.
