    Default Virgin V+ Box

Moving in with my bird in next few months and she has Sky whereas I'm on Virgin.

She isn't cabled up for Virgin so I gotta cancel my subscription, so thought I'd start the ball rolling by cancelling the TV and Phone (as I don't use either) but keeping the broadband until last minute.

Rang them up and they said it wasn't a problem it would be cancelled in 30 days from day I rang. She then asked when I would be in so that they could pick up THEIR box.
I was kinda taken aback as I paid £150 for that box 3 years ago and thought that meant it was mine but she said that the £150 I paid was for a warranty on the box and not the box itself??

Are they full of shit or is there an argument there?

The box is pretty worthless as I seen them on eBay for around £20!! So it's not as if I'll make money out of it, it's kinda just the principal of it.

    They own the box.

£150 is for installation. It's completely useless without an active Virgin subscription anyway.

She is right, you never own the gear from Virgin its rented. Think I seen somewhere that they are changing the wording for the initial cost to upfront rental?

What Mule said. Its bollox really that they charge for boxes when Sky give them away. You can get a free HD box but they charge you £49 to activate the HD channels.

Id go with Sky if Virgin wasn't so cheap for all 3 things.

We just moved to Sky & Virgin collected the box. Think you pay a £10 a month rental on it or something equally stupid. May be wrong. Kepth their HDMI cable though & removed the batteries from the remote.

When the internet goes (this month) hope they don't want their wireless router back

    These V+ boxes.
Have they got a HDD inside them...?
Kinda thinking I was not renting all that porn I recorded from the service I paid for.
Surely that belongs to you yes...?

I thought a HDD contains personal information - hence - I'd keep at least the drive!

They've always been rented which is why you don't pay for the maintenance. With Sky you own the piece od crap box but have to pay for repairs once the Warranty runs out.
    If at first you don't succeed.....redefine success. . . .

If you open it up there's a good chance they'll charge you for damaging the box. That's why people don't upgrade the HDD's.
