O shit, that's a real shame. I never got to see the original G&R live (and by the reviews I don't think I'll bother with Axl's outfit!) but those guys were awesome. I didn't get too close to the stage though, the lead singers Lycra shorts wasn't a pleasant view, even the missus didn't like it much

It may surprise some that I carry a torch for some metal bands as well.
In my younger days I listened to quite a lot of metal, ranging from the extreme death metal to more commercial rock.
There is certainly too many bands to list, but a few I liked are Suicidal Tendancies (Namely the first album), The Cult, Sabbath, Guns & Roses, Iron Maiden, Love/Hate, and on the more grim side - Slayer, Megadeth, Paradise Lost, Testament, some Metallica, but the band themselves are cocks. Lawnmower Deth and Napalm Death were also quite humourous in their madness!
Live, I've only seen Black Sabbath, supported by Testament at the Hammersmith Odeon (Yeah a fkin cinema?!). Love/Hate at the Gardening Club 2. And Extreme, somewhere, camden I think.
How do you like them apples ;-)

My best mate's missus slept shagged the drummer from Napalm Death at a Suicidal Tendancies gig. He was walking around looking for her and she was in the toilet with him

Old die hard metal fan in my day. Seen some amazing gigs shame i can't rememeber them all, lol. 3 of my faves were guns n roses first uk gig at the Marquee in 1987 (or '88 i think ). Faith No More at the Hummingbird in Birmingham 1990 ish. AC/DC Donnginton 1991.
One band that hasn't been mentioned yet that I thought were great - Tesla. Brilliant band, supported Def Lep and GnR quite a bit. Blind Melon were great as well.
oh and of course the macc lads (perhaps in a genre of their own!)

Memory often tends to ge hazy, but one of my favourites was Download a copuple of years ago when Lars Ulrich had one of his hissy fits and stayed in Germany and Slipknots drummer stood in, he was awesome and it was an excellent live show. Always love Metallica live, airbourne were excellent at soni, Slipknot never dissapoint either.
Im in my early 40s now but was brought up on a diet of Sabbath,Zeppelin,Judas preist and all the NWOBHM bands and still listen to loads of em. Eighties bands? Motley Crue, Def Lepard, Celtic frost pretty much all of em who had the balls to get up on stage and make a really loud noise!!! (never got the hang of Napalm Death though?!?!)
Looking to go to Sonisphere again this year (Missed last year) as long as I can find somewhere safe to park the new trike!

Top thread
I'm a massive Metallica fan and was lucky to see them in the round at Manchester MEN. We where so close I got covered in Jason's spit during his bass solo and made eye contact with James during Whiplash
Other fav's are:-
Alice in Chains
Bullet for my Valentine
Pappa Roach
Pantera
Killswitch Engage
Megadeth
Puddle of Mudd
Loads more, far too many to list!
Best gig was Bullet for my Vallentine. I'd never seen the wall of death before then Damn kids are crazy these days lol
I used to be far more into my metal when i was a teenager, but still listen to Maiden, Metallica, AC/DC, RATM on a regular basis.
Soundgarden - there's a blast from the past.
Went to donington years ago, Metallica were headlining, and Slayer, Machine Head (i think Pantera) were all playing.
Used to like BioHazard and Senser for something a bit different, loved Sepultura as well.
I've mellowed somewhat but you can't beat some of the classics
Are there any metal heads on Spotify? Would love to see some playlists
Dunno if anyone has heard of the new UK Thrashers 'Evile', but this was a pic of me and the lead singer in the signing tent at Bloodstock'08.........a proud moment for me They r gonna be a big band within next few years
I loved Tesla, got their album 'the great radio controversy' (or something along those lines) on vinyl somewhere.
I had completely forgotten about sepultura until someone mentioned them above. Fucking amazing live.
If I ever want to flush out metal heads on Facebook, I just put a status up of 'Under a pale grey sky' and someone always comes back 'We shall arise'
I remember seeing them somewhere and they did that thing where they all played the drums. Fabulous stuff.

Here's another, The Cult, during the Electric album era, a gig at the Brixton Academy again around '88 was mental.
Quireboys were also a great band to see live.

Hated the Cult, no idea why. The Quireboys were quality. I also liked Thunder

Sorry to keep posting random shit, but this movie was like a religion for me, that and the Fastway soundtrack. An amazing perfomance as a radio DJ by Gene Simmons and also Ozzy as a vicar !
