    Help Sabnzb over the internet

I'm trying to access my sabnzb over the web and it used to work but its stopped working.

I've got the port forwarding set on my router on UDP/TCP. Firewall is off. API is disabled in SABNZB. I've trying my external IP eg 77.101.232.221:8080 but i'm just getting page can't be displayed.

Anyone got any more ideas on what I can check? How can I check if port 8080 is being used by another application on my PC as it stopped working soon after I install XBMC which also uses port 8080.

8080 is the default port for the web interface on xbmc, why not just set sabnzbd+ to use a different port (mines on port 2222)

I've just tried that but its still the same. I think i've got a routing problem. Should I be able to ping my IP with port number? eg ping 77.101.221.223:8081 as I can't ping it?

are you sure the ip of the machine running sabnzbd is static and matching the one in the routing table of your NAT ?

I ran into this exact problem recently with SMB shares when the ethernet card in my revo was set to dchp not static and changed when I rebooted. It happened after I updated my xbmc install to 10.0

Its not static but I don't normally reboot PC so the IP rarely changes. It has changed since it stoped working so ill try a static again with the original IP. I didn't think it would make a difference as long as I knew the IP. When I tried to ping my IP of 192.168.1.6 it tries to route via my old IP of 192.168.1.3 so something isn't right...

you need it to be static if you're assigning static routes to it, i.e. forwarding ports.

Got it working this morning. Changed the IP back to what it used to be. There is a upnp entry for this IP with loads of ports listed but no others. Its not obvious how to change the IP on it either. Weird as I must had set it in the first place to make it work.

If I wasn't so busy at work i'd do one but i'm busy as fook at the moment

Basically you need to set up your SABNzb and when you run through the wizard it asks you if you want other PC's to access it wack a tick in there. Set up a user name and password for it as well just to be safe.

Next thing is give your machine running sab a static IP address. Its wise to change the port number that sab uses to something other than 8080. I'm using 2222 like malt recommended.

Then login to your router and set up port forwarding on TCP/UDP on port 2222 to your static IP address.

Then go to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ to find out what your external IP address is.

Then browse to your IP address/port number eg http://77.101.222.253:2222 - you'll be prompted to logon and bobs your uncle. Just use it as if you were at home.

If you want to use it on your mobile then download NZB Mobile from the market place.

Put in your IP address, port number, API key from Sab and user name and password. Then put in your NZB matrix user name and API and you should be ready to go.

I can search for NZB's on my phone and add them at the tap of a button.

Good luck, its really not that complicated (if it all goes to plan)

Check on your router what IP you've set up port forwarding on and use that for your static IP. Open a cmd prompt and type in ipconfig /all to get your default gateway settings etc.

Go to the network and sharing centre, click on your active connection (wifi or LAN), you'll get a box called wireless network connection status, click properties, highlight TCP/IPv4 and click properties.

You then get a properties box. Tick use the following IP address and type in the IP you want to use, and the rest of the info will be on the ipconfig /all that you did earlier.

Then just apply all the settings etc and job done. If you've got loads of wireless devices in your house the chances are you never get the same IP address.

Give that a whirl. You might need to turn on UPnP on your router as well. I did this when i was having problems and it helped but i'm fooked if I know what it actually did!

edit I don't think you can use the same port for multiple applications if they are running at the same time.

    sorry
With O2 routers you don't need to worry about your local IP address being static because when you assign a port to a particular device, you actually assign it to a given device name (which is identified by its MAC address). The IP address assigned to that device is updated automatically.

However, unless you are on the top O2 package, it is unlikely that you have a static Internet IP address. Your Internet IP address is susceptible to changes whenever your ADSL connection is reset, so consider the advice from others about using a Dynamic DNS service (e.g. yournamehere.dyndns.org). You can usually configure routers to use the Dynamic DNS services, and if it helps, my O2 Wireless Box III supports dyndns, statdns, custom, No-IP, DtDNS and gnudip. I imagine boxes I, II and IV are practically the same.

Here are the steps for adding SABnzbd over HTTPS to your O2 wireless box:

    1. Use a browser to navigate to http://o2wirelessbox.lan
    2. Click Toolbox, then Game & Application Sharing
    3. Now select Create a new game or application
    4. Enter a useful name such as SABnzbd_HTTP or SABnzbd_HTTPS,choose Manual Entry of Port Maps and press Next
    5. Use these settings:
      • Protocol: TCP
      • Port Range: 9090 - 9090 (or 8080 - 8080 for HTTP access)
      • Translate To: leave blank
      • Trigger Protocol: leave blank
      • Trigger Port: leave blank
    6. Click Add followed by Apply
    7. From Pick a Task at the bottom, click Assign a game or application to a local network device
    8. Use the Game or Application drop-down to find SABnzbd_HTTPS (or whatever) and tick Log if you want. n.b. If you are setting this up from the computer you want to access remotely, then ignore Device as the correct one has already been detected. Otherwise, find the correct device.
    9. Press Add.
    10. Done

Configure SABnzbd as livesey described, obviously ticking Enable HTTPS if you want greater security. The most important setting is SABnzbd Host - it must be either blank (listens on local NIC IP address only) or 0.0.0.0 (listens on localhost and NIC IP address). Leave it set at localhost and you won't get anywhere.

If you're using an iPhone then I recommend MyNZB. For Android, as previously suggested Use whatismyip.com to find out your IP address, configure the mobile client (remembering the port you used) and bobs yer uncle
