    Default Swapping V+ box

    Hey!
We have one of the old unresponsive V+ boxes.
The mother in law has just cancelled her Virgin subscription, including the newer super fast Samsung V+ box. They told her to dispose of it herself so I thought we'd have it.

Anyway, it says that the wrong card has been inserted when we put ours in and to ring em up. Error 3009. Thought they'd just be able to swap it over at thier end but they say not, sounds bollox to me as if we had a faulty box and they swapped it out we'd still be using our original viewing card surely.

Does anyone have any pointers to using this box legit? We do have a valid subscription with V+.

    Cheers.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, the funky gibbon.

I dont know if it's the same as sky if so you will have to ring them to get the card paired with the box

yeah cards are paired, they could pair your card to the samsung in seconds if they wanted to. but thats too easy for them.they like to make life hard for themselves so just phone them back tell them you want an engineer out for your own box...tell them it keeps failing recordings and is slow as shit.

It's just not worth the hassle for them. The box doesn't just need pairing with a card - it's loaded with the other user's account details, credit, PIN etc. Cheaper for them to have one sent out on a tech's van. I think it's a disgusting waste of hardware to have them sent to the recycling when they could be picked up and re-provisioned but it's obviously cheaper for them in the long run. As Furry says, tell them your box is running red hot and not recording. I had an older Scientific Atlantic box - it was like a fucking VHS player with it's size and noise & had more lights than Blackpool. I rang them and said it was running hot, and by the time the engineer came it was because I'd had it recording & wrapped in a towel all day. It was replaced with a Samsung box but at the time it was pot luck what you got. I think now there's much more chance of a replacement being a Samsung.
In short, there's nothing legit you can do with this box whatsoever. I'm not even sure there's anything illicit you can do with them any more.
