can any one tell me a fast way to convert vhs taps to dvd
Dazzle is reasonable - folks in law bought one before Chrimbo (around £70 from PCW I seem to recall) and got fairly good results converting some of their old family videos to DVD - a lot depends on the quality of the source tape and to some extent the player you play it from when you record it.
easy cap of ebay about £6
the one i got didnt support windows 7
but i found a driver for it from a 3rd party.
other way is from vhs player to dvd recorder.
no quick way only real time play & record.
i do a lot of this from vhs & betamax also hi8 , vhs-c & dv tape.
My mate got the original vhs of celebrity deathmatch but my vhs / cd burner
Won't copy originals!!

Late reply but if you have access to a DVD recorder / VHS combo then you can record from tape to DVD and vice versa. If you have a DVD recorder with AV input then you can connect a VHS player or video camera and record to DVD. Alternatively you can buy capture PCI cards for your PC to record to digital video and then record to DVD.
I have only converted tape to DVD once and used a DVD recorder with A/V input because I happened to have access to one.
I've been thinking about doing this for a few friends and family and was wondering if anyone had any more suggestions or updates for the best methods.
My thoughts on what has been mentioned, i guess 3 different options are required.
1. Use vhs player with a/v to record on dvd recorder
2. Play vhs to pc via usb or pci capture, then burn to dvd or alternative digital format - can this be done on the fly? (which is better / faster pci card or usb?)
3. Mini vhs - camcorder tapes - need a camcorder to do either of the above.
Is Mac or PC better or no different.
Thanks

I prefer the VHS to DVD recorder method. I did a load of them the other week on a VHS/DVD combi but there is no reason you can't use the AV out on the VHS player to connect to the AV in on the DVD recorder.
There should be no difference between PC and Mac from a hardware POV. I am not sure how Mac software solutions compare to their PC counterparts as I have not used a computer to convert VHS to DVD.
Cheers evil.
