I'm preferring it to my android phone so far. The screen, the speed and the games are better.
Obviously not a lot off ppl tried the win 7 phones. I was trialling one for a mate just before they debuted in canada, I was quite impressed..completely different to windows mobile 6.5..thank fuck!
The GUI is beautiful and quick..didnt get a chance to play any of the games :<.
My only complaint is there is no phone that touches the iphone 4 screen for resolution and clarity..yet.
At least the service pack/updates are standard..not vendor-tied like android and how many numerous updates have both IOS and android received?
I'll get a win 7 phone once nokia get their arse into gear.
superior in quality (as in depth of blacks and colour reproduction) but inferior in pixel density (as in clarity, detail and sharpness)

this is gonna sound so fanboyish (it's not meant to be, but I want to try give my imression after 4 months use).
I've had a HD7 since launch in October, and yes, there's a few things it lacks/pisses me off with
(the voice "find" command doesn't work in uk, and lack of navigation software).
but it does have redeeming features and i don't really miss either my Iphone, desire or HD2
I'm happy with the way it integrates Xbox live (gamerscore/avatar/messages to friends on xbox live)and the way the people hub works is quality (along with the general facebook integration with photos too).
plus I really do prefer the UI now that i've gotten used to it.
Zune+ Zune pass, (I initially begrudgingly paid for a year zune pass costing approx £80, but I'm so glad I did as to be able to search for a track and just download it suits me fine and it's easily paid for itself already)
I know it's playing catchup with Android/iOS/symbian etc, but I was at the point I fancied a change when my upgrade was due, so i took a chance on it, and know i'm happy with it.
People will slag it off, but have they really given it a chance before doing so?
I know other os' have similar/more features, but I like the way WP7 does them and I'm genuinely looking forward to how things progress with updates etc.
there are some quality apps/games worth checking out (i know some are available on other os, but it's worth trying)
OneNote
Thumba Photo Editor (quality pic editing app)
Weave (excellent news/rss reader)
Official Flickr app
Kindle
also there are plenty of decent games
Alpha Jax (scrabble online game)
Carneyvale
Project Sunburst
ByeBye Brain (quality zombie tower defense)
Trine's Hangman (online leaderboards are very good)
anyway, as it's been said the update is allegedly due around 8th March and will give cut n paste (not sure how much use it will get as i've managed fine so far) and more importantly better memory management for faster app loading and running.
As much as I normally stick up for the pc/ms side whenever these kinda debates come up, my experiences with previous versions of win mobile have left such a bad taste that I would never consider another.
I really would love to speak to some of the dev teams behind older versions just to find out wtf they were thinking.
i have to use a old pda for work. has a old version of windows mobile on it. its shocking, always drops calls, is really really slow. i wouldnt ever consider one now for my own phone due to this.
Things do improve over time you know?
I've had a fair share of the old wm devices, moved to iOS and didn't look back, however recently my work phone was due an upgrade and I got a samsung omnia windows phone 7. Personally I'm really impressed with it, the apps that are on both windows and iOS look a lot more polished on the windows phone. There are a few downsides to it and ms are playing catchup but I think after a few update packs it will be a proper contender. The omnia screen is pretty good but like maltloaf said earlier in the thread in terms of pixel density the iPhone 4 is a lot better.
I do find that at the moment if I need to check something via an app or online and I have both phones there I do tend to pick up the iPhone more, I think this is due to the app loading times though and this is supposed to be faster in the update so will see how it goes.
Oh and after having an iPhone for so many years, when I first got the omnia I was looking where to insert the sim card (didn't think about checking under the battery) saw a small hole and presumed that's where it went, there was no pin in the box so found a pin and stuck it in, only to realise that that was the mic, luckily it didn't affect it

I suppose if you can't afford a iphone a Windows or Android phone will do.
Its nothing to do ith not being able to afford one or not, its called "choice" and "opinion"
It was my "choice" to get one after using an android phone for months and hearing everyone moan about the iphone 4's faults and If you haven't used a windows 7 phone then your "opinion" means nothing.
