Default Recommend me some monitoring software

Hi all, we have a 46" LED tv currently hung on the wall in our IT department and it's just sat their doing sweet FA. There's a PC connected to it so I was wondering if any of you can recommend some decent monitoring software that would look nice on the display.

Charts, readouts, what have you. Something that isn't just a boring list of IP addresses and text.

    Thanks in advance!

If you have some money to spend, Orion Network Performance Monitor is nice.

I trialled this but couldn't get the money so I have a lame nagios screen which is just green and red bars of various ip addresses.

If you just want pretty charts of network info, get ntop running on a pc with the nic in promiscious mode and if you have monitoring ports on your switches you can get some info.

Also I'm planning to look into spiceworks when I get the time but can't comment on this yet.

Hey bro we currently have Spiceworks as one of our inventory/monitoring solutions and apart from a slightly laggy web interface, it's pretty decent! It gives you all the information you will ever need and it's really straight forward to setup groups for different floors/departments.

It scans everything attached to the network and gives you info on it. It's a very good inventory tool, I like things like the ability to enter a serial key, i.e Office bulk license and it will give you a list of all machines it's installed on.

Also on the monitoring side of things you can tell it to warn you for things like, any hard drive on the network with less than "X" amount of space, any machine/server that doesn't have an up to date AV, even when printers are running out of ink.

It isn't the prettiest thing in the world but it is very functional.
