Default Warning / Question - SSD Failures?

We are starting to use/trial SSD's at work and about 2/3 weeks ago we purchased 9 x kingston 128GB SSD's

Unfortunately already TWO of these drives have completely failed (on two different units using two different OS). More worryingly the failure is such that the bios will not even recognise a hard drive, so loss of data is total. We have now tried several different PC's and all the software utilities, external USB devices - the lot. And there is absolutely no access to these drives.

So anyway, at this stage we are quickly moving away from the kingston drives and moving onto to another brand.

However, my reason for this post is two part....

    1) Has anyone else experienced these kind of issues with SSD's?

    2) A warning that when using a SSD, not only can they fail very quickly but when they do go, it seems loss seems to be total!

It would appear that professional companies can retrieve data, but this probably will cost a fortune:
    http://www.recovermyflashdrive.com/s...-data-recovery
We are able to recover data from most SSD (Solid State Drive) hard drive failures where the drive is no longer recognized by the computer.
    http://www.easy2pc.co.uk/computer-re...-recovery.html
SSD hard drives use NAND memory chips to store your data. When a SSD hard drive is not detected by your computer it doesn’t mean your data is lost, the data is still in the NAND memory chips. We can access the data stored in the SSD's NAND memory chips and recover your information.
I have just bought my first SSD (32GB OCZ Onyx) and have had no problems as of yet. Have you searched to see if your model has a widespread problem? I can't imagine this far into the development of SSDs they would be vulnerable to such failures as part of the technology, I would have thought your company must got hold of a bad batch. I would be interested in hearing other peoples opinions as I was under the impression SSDs are far more reliable than mechanical HDDs.

    Kingston never got good reviews.

Only had 2 SSD's here, first was an Intel X25-M...and when that got too slow for me I swapped it out for a Crucial C300 256GB (355MB/sec read - 230MB/sec write).

The old lady now has the Intel SSD in her laptop which still works just fine, and which Intel guarantee for 5 years MTBF (the Crucial MTBF is much higher).

The self same can happen with a standard disk drive.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it
