Default Judge Lets Sony Unmask Visitors to PS3-Jailbreaking Site

    Source - http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/201...ite-unmasking/

A federal magistrate is granting Sony the right to acquire the internet IP addresses of anybody who has visited PlayStation 3 hacker George Hotz’s website from January of 2009 to the present.
    What next?

What evidence is that going to give them? I went to it last year but haven't tampered with my PS3.

It's another step towards the Internet being policed. it seems like nothing but these are the things that start to erode everyones privacy, next they'll be checking what books you've bought on amazon to make sure your not subversive.

Ridiculous. That's not going to prove anything.

All it means is that Sony is trying scare tactics.

its purely scaremongering, the general idiot public are daft enough to think if they visit a site they will have the plod banging on their door within seconds.
Geohot's site must have been plastered on every tech/hacking/general news site on the net at some point in the last few weeks, he must have had millions of visitors.

Hey Sony , go and fuck yourselves , remember rootkits ??
I hope LG takes your fucking eyes out and all the PS3's that are currently being held in a warehouse because of you stealing copyright works , burn in hell.

IP adresess mean fuck all and cannot be tied to an actual user , did u not read the judges findings in the ACS:Law case ??

Fuck you and all your bullshit claims

Even the CEO of Sony tweeted the master key , how fucked up is that ??

Having all those PS3's sitting in so many warehouse's must be hurting Sony so much - hats off to LG.

Now that the US International Trade Commission are getting involved, things could be even more drawn out.

    Good.

    Up yer arse, Sony.

Unless they are looking at it to pin on geohot, match the IP's that visited his site plus the ones that modded and went on PSN which they'll have and try and prove the link between his info and piracy.

Yeh the put root kits on audio CDs back in 94-95 ,that installed on any pc that you put the cd in ,and clocked the processes , eventually they where told to remove it.
Ther claim at the time was it was anti piracy , but the irony was that when the code was analysed it was found to contain code that the them self had stolen .

With Sony being such cunts I'm tempted to JB my PS3 when I've finished with GT5. I'm loving that LG are suing Sony at the moment as well

I am just hoping that they manage to prevent any more new consoles to be sold. The second hand market would go through the roof and we might see ps4 sooner. This generation is being drawn out like the megadrive. I wanna see some new hardware.

The ironic thing is . the lawyers are the only winners ,sony are getting bad advice .
Infact ther painting a target on there back . perhaps because ther a hardware company,
unlike microsoft , and the last thing you want to do is piss of the linux nerds...
