    Default CUTEFTP

    Hi peeps

ok i downloaded cutftp and it has now expired, as i only need it as a one off i tried to delete and reinstall it so i could use the 30 day trial again, but guessing it leaves something behind as when it reinstalls it says that my trial has expired.

now i know your think just use a free ftp client but cute ftp was the only client that i could get to work i tried a number of different ones like filezilla and winSCP.

what files should i be looking for to delete so i can use the trial again, or is it not that simple?

    thanks

    adi

    delete all registry entries, reboot

i would also go with DejaVu and try Filezilla as its what i use personally
and you can get a portable version from www.portableapps.com

If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

    thanks for the replies guys.

bert, winscp just wont connect to what im trying to connect to, just says waiting for welcome message or some other nonsense then times out.

dejavu, pretty much the same problem with filezilla, though that will connect but wont transfer any files! :-/ didnt think of looking in the vip but cheers for that im on it :-)

figured it would be registry entries just waSnt sure which ones i should be looking for..

hopefully the dejavu hint will be the answer to my problems

    thanks again guys

Usually the transfer problem is to do with your broadband setup and the use of PASV settings. Let me know if you need any help crazy

have cuteftp back up and running now so its fine.

the problem i was having was actually 2 machines connected by an ethernet so no broadband involved, all very odd that it will work with cuteftp but nothing else. :-/

    Filezilla for the win.

If it ain't conencting then it sounds like you've got firewall issues on your PCs.

Yeah but you're only gonna get the same problem when the trial runs out again...

It's not working properly becuase the firewall on the server isn't setup correctly. It's allowing the transmission control connection (that lets you browse folders) but it's blocking the data transmission connection.

Set Filezilla to connect in Passive mode and it should work just like CuteFTP.
