acer aspire 5222 driver

i just formatted my aspire 5552 series laptop "installed windows 7" all drivers in bar ethernet controller.

i have been on acer site and downloaded the driver but it don't install,i,ve tried upto 10 different sites for the driver and still nothing.

any ideas chaps

Does your computer give any indication of the model of your Ethernet Port?
If not try this -

If not, you should be able to find the vendor and device IDs (you’ll find these in a string of text in the device’s properties page – something like PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9441&SUBSYS_20421002) and anything else you know about the device, and I’ll have a look and see what I can find for you.

DriverMax is a decent app which can identify unknown hardware. The free accounts let you download 2 drivers a day. Only problem is it is a pretty drawn out process, if anyone knows of a free app which can automatically identify, download and install I would appreciate it. DriverMagician and DriverDetective aren't that good at identifying unknown hardware and they cost money.

Try updating your BIOS, reset it to default settings. Then update your chipset drivers, audio, video, network etc. as thay can confuse Device Manager. If you connect an ethernet cable do the activity lights on the port illuminate? Is there any network connectivity?

The manufacturer of your Device is Broadcom, but the model number (ven_14e4&dev_(****)subsys) is either incorrect or not identified correctly. This can mean one of two things.

Did it work correctly before installing Windows 7? Have you updated your BIOS to be 'Windows 7 Ready'?

You might have tried this, but did you try this driver (Firefox wont download from there, but Google Chrome does)? It's 130Mb ish which is large for a Lan Driver. I reckon it's all the Broadcom drivers in one package!
If it fails, update your Bios and try again. Only ever update your BIOS if you are having problems. It's nerve racking but sometimes is the only way to solve issues like this.

I gave up with all those 'pay for' programs years ago. DriverMax was the best one until it decided to go as a 'Pay to use' App.
